488. How To Trust Yourself MORE
On this episode, Nellie emphasizes the importance of trusting oneself and aligning one's brain and heart to achieve goals. She suggests that taking small, consistent actions can build trust, as the brain needs evidence to feel secure. By accumulating small successes, one can counteract past negative experiences and build confidence. Nellie uses personal anecdotes and metaphors, such as file folders in the brain, to illustrate how incremental steps lead to greater trust. She also mention the role of affirmations and the need for data to convince the analytical brain. Nellie encourages listeners to keep promises to themselves and build evidence to foster self-trust, which will positively impact all areas of life.
We will touch on:
- Trusting Yourself and the Power of Small Actions
- The Role of Evidence in Building Trust

I think starting this podcast episode at 222, which is what I'm recording, this is so perfect. Because if you know Angel numbers 222, is being in the right place at the right time, and I want you to trust in this moment, you are on the right path. Because every wealthy action will lead to a wealthier future. And the more wealthy actions you take, you can't go wrong, it will lead you to so much and more that you may not even fully understand yet. And so every single wealthy action is a step in the right direction, every single one. And so there's no failing. And a lot of times when we are going into the unknown, trust within ourselves is so challenging. Because again, I'll say it all day, every day, your brain loves reassurance. Your brain loves knowing it's going to be okay. Your brain loves predictability. And so when you're going into a new chapter, like, maybe you want to leave your job, or maybe you want to change industries, or, you know, offers that you have, or something in your personal life, like, maybe you're going on a big quest in your personal life, or, like, even for me, when we removed childcare and I went full time, like, stay at home, mom, like, there was a lot of trust in me and our family that, like, I could still, like, run a company, I could still take care of myself, I could still do the things that I needed and wanted to do, but it would look very, very different. And so I want to shout out to Kaylee Casey for sponsoring this episode today. And the thing that has helped me trust myself through all the different chapters that I have been through is doing your brain wants evidence, and it only has evidence from up to this point. So I'm 34 years old, so my brain has 34 years of files, right? Like, think of like a giant file, folder, Bin, right? My brain has all of these files with evidence in them on certain things, good, bad and different, it doesn't matter, but it it goes off the past and the present. Your brain does not work on the future. Your heart does. Your heart desires big goals and dreams and believes in yourself. And that's where, like the the friction can happen. And so we want to get your brain and your heart on board and CO create together versus being enemies, right? It's hard to win a football game if half of you is on one team and half of you is on the other team, right. Like it's pretty much impossible. But when you're on the same team right, your head and your heart, right? Then it's so much easier to at least have a better shot at winning the game, right? And so the thing that has always helped me is, what evidence does my brain need that it doesn't have to help get me to where I want to go? So if my brain has so much evidence, let's just say, for example, of like you always say that you want to work out, but you rarely ever do. Then my brain needs evidence that I'm going to go work out. So then what you go do is you work out once, then you work out twice, then you work out three times, and now you are going to trust yourself more. Your brain is going to trust you more. Because, wow, now we've added more file folders that go against the old files, the old evidence. And you can do this for every category of your life and every category of your business. Maybe you say you're going to go on Facebook Live, or you're going to promote an offer, but then like, we freeze and we don't do it. So now the evidence that your brain needs is to go on Facebook Live, or to go make an offer, or to launch the podcast, right? And you don't have to do anything that is going to be so extreme, it's actually the quite opposite. The smallest little action will be then a file in a new file folder, and then we add another piece of paper, then we add another piece of paper, and before you know it, that file gets so big, like, when I picked up our taxes from last year, she like, plopped all of the files back down that she like, I gave her, and then she was giving them back to me, and I forgot how much I gave her, and I just started laughing. I was like, Oh, wow, I forgot how much I gave you, and we just laughed together. It was like a huge stack, right? And so this is what your brain is needing in order to trust yourself. You can affirmation. It up all day long. I trust myself. I trust myself, and it can help. It for sure, can help. Uh, but your brain is not going to believe you until you fully do something, right? You make a move, it goes off data. Your brain is very analytical, and so it needs data. Your heart is what loves the affirmations. Your heart is like the warm and fuzzies, right? But your brain is like the analytical person in your life, like my husband is very, very analytical, and I'm very much like the heart, right? And so I've had to really understand, like, okay, he needs more data, right? And so that's, that is your brain. So anyone in your life, if you're not very analytical, think of somebody in your life that's very analytical. That's your brain. That's your brain. It needs facts, it needs data, it needs evidence. Go give it. Go give it what it needs. Feed it what it needs. And I promise you, you'll trust yourself. And the beautiful part about trust is, no matter what category of your life or business, it will spill over in a positive way to every other aspect. So build that file folder up. I cannot wait for you. This is the best practical way to build more trust with yourself. Keep promises to yourself. Build that file folder and I can't wait. I'm cheering you on. You.
