434. 3 Habit Hacks
Shout out to Kristen Rourke
The secret to anything, pretty much anything, that you desire that you don't already have, that you're like I deeply, deeply desire to manifest. Fill in the blank, fill in the blank, fill in the blank. I guarantee you almost everything on that list, if not everything on that list, can be accomplished. Can be accomplished by habits, habits, habits, habits. Habits are the things that you're doing day to day or not doing day to day that are really going to stack up and create the desired outcome that you really want. We focus so much on the outcome, like our brains, that's what we want. Like, we see the dream house. We see the debt being paid off. We want it so badly you you see the the person of your dreams, like the love of your life, right? Like anything that you desire, like the perf, the perfect body, right? I do that with air quotes like, like, losing the weight, gaining the muscle. Like, we fixate on the outcome that we desire, and then we get, typically, we get frustrated as humans when the thing is not happening, or it's not happening as quickly as we want, and we like to point the finger and blame, you know, sometimes our kids blame the economy. Blame, you know, outside forces like your job or your your significant other, whatever it may be, and those things obviously have truth in them. A lot of things do, however, it takes you out of the driver's seat and doesn't allow you to feel fully empowered. So if you're desiring the outcome that you're wanting, and you want to feel empowered on your way to creating it, and you want it to feel super, super predictable, then how we get there is habits. And habits are definitely not meant to be like you do them all at once. You really want to pick one habit at a time and then do what's called habit stacking where like, once you've mastered one, and it almost feels like it's on autopilot, then you're gonna add in the next one, and then add in the next one and add in the next one. So I'm gonna give you three amazing habit hacks that are going to make this feel so, so amazing that you're like, oh my gosh, it's just a matter of time before I accomplish fill in the blank, fill in the blank, fill in the blank, fill in the blank. So before I do that, I want to give a shout out to Kristen Roark, with busy mom bod. She is here to help you with happy, healthy habits for busy moms, and she has an amazing squat challenge that is built on habits. So it's so perfect that she is sponsoring today's episode. So make sure you check out Krista and Rourke with busy mom BOD, check out her squat challenge, and just get to know her. She always is putting out amazing content on social. And make sure that you're on her email list too, because she sends like the most amazing emails as well. I'm a subscriber, and I love getting her emails. They're so good. So let's go to the three easy habit hacks. Try to say that five times fast. It's not so easy to say it. So before I do that, I know I'm like, such a tease, but before I do that, we already gave Kristen a shout out, so check there. I want you to get clear on what you're desiring in your life and in your business by the end of the year, right? Or you could even do the next 365 days, depending on when you're listening to this. But let's even just, you know, let's even just go for six months. So go ahead and edit that out. We're pretending here. We don't edit our stuff. But anyways, let's just do the six months. Because depending on when you're listening to this, it could be 12 months away from the next year. It could be seven months away. So let's just for easy math, let's look at the next six months. That gives you enough time to have it stack, and then equally, it doesn't give you too much time where you're like, oh, delay, delay, delay, and delay. So let's look at the next six months. Okay, so what I want you to do is on a piece of paper, I want you to think about, okay, like, what like? Do the math, okay, the six months are from what month to what month, and I want you to write that at the top of your piece of paper. And then I want you to think about your life, and I want you to think about your business, and I want you to think about, what do you actually desire? Like, if I were your fairy godmother? What are we going to accomplish in your business, and what are you going to accomplish in your personal life? So for example, I'll use me for an example. So in my business, I'm putting a B at the top of my piece of paper, and L, so they they go hand in hand, because you're the CEO of your business and you're equally the CEO of your life. And when we can feel really solid in both, which does take time, it does take energy. It does take effort, of course, but when we can feel really good in both, you flourish, you thrive. You feel so confident. You feel so amazing. When you're like, taking care of your body, when you're taking care of your mind, when, like, your business feels simple and easy, and things are like clicking and they're like, you know, people are coming to you, right? Those again, we fixate on the outcome that we're desiring. Those things don't happen by accident. They just don't like when you see somebody and they're like, Oh, I went viral, and then I became a millionaire. Like, maybe once in a blue moon, that happens. But for every other success story that you're seeing, that you're hearing, that you're comparing yourself to, just know that majority of them are because of habits, which means you can have it too, like we're all searching for, like the secret. The secret is habits. Everything is built on Habits. Habits create patterns. And so I am obsessed with human behavior, and how do we actually get what we want? Because that's my job. Like my job is to obsess about this work and see how can people no matter what you've been through, no matter if you have ADHD, OCD, dyslexia, autism, like no matter what challenges you have, if you've had past trauma, but like, how can we truly help those that are the underdogs, really, like in the everyday moms? How can I help those types of people really get everything that they desire? And so once this can click, and you can understand and take ownership of like, oh my gosh, if it's to be it's up to me, and I'm gonna get really effing good at habits, and I'm gonna stack them, knowing that it's just a matter of time before you start stacking cash. It's just a matter of time before you look in the mirror and you're like, damn, who's that? Right? It takes time. It takes time, but how we speed up that time is getting so good at habits, so good at mastering your habits. So for the next six months, you're going to think about, what are those outcomes that you desire, what are the outcomes that you desire in your business, and what are the outcomes that you desire in your life? So I'm going to go to life first. Because typically I go to business first, and I'm working on like, owning like I'm I get to go first, like me first. Me, my family first, because when I can put my oxygen mask on, life looks different. Business looks different. So, so we're just doing outcomes. We're not doing habits yet. Okay, so the outcomes that I desire and the next six months. So when I'm recording this for easy math, we're just going to do it's almost the end of the year. That would be the end of November. So June to November. Okay, cool. So what do I desire? I desire in my life to train and run my full marathon. So train and run the I'm already signed up for it. So it's happening no matter what. Train and run full marathon. Okay, we're just kind of doing like a brain dump here together. Of the outcomes that you desire. What else do I desire in my life? I desire some date nights with my husband. That's what like showed up for me. We're not going to put a number on it right now, but date nights, that sounds lovely. I desire my first tattoo, which I'm already taking action on. First tattoo, we're working on some savings goals. So savings that would feel really good. Okay, cool. Okay, I'm trying to think if there's anything else, there's some, like Final organization in my house that I'm working on so house or. Organization. Oh, and I'm working on a family blog, family blog. Okay, I'm sure there's many more, but we're gonna roll with that for now. Okay, business, I deeply desire for, excuse me, for us to be at 1000 students by the end of the year. I deeply desire my jeep to be wrapped in pink. We're working on that pink jeep. I deeply desire to get merch for wealthy mama send Happy Mail. I'm also working on a business savings goal, so we're gonna put that there savings. Okay? I'm trying to think, if there's anything else we're working on lots of automations and like the student experience. We're literally updating it every single day. So I want to put automations and student experience. Okay, you will obviously keep thinking of more and more and more, but allow your brain to free flow and think of whatever comes up for you, like date nights. That was like, came right in like, I was like, Oh yes, yes, please. Date nights sound lovely. Okay, so now we've got some outcomes to focus on, which is exciting. This is one of the things that I always ask people about, because I want to know what's important to you. Because if we don't know where we're heading, it's not very motivating. And equally, we don't know what direction we're going in, 1000 students looks very different than 10 students. So that is something I desire. It is a stretch goal, but when we talk about habits, it'll make perfect sense of why this is important. Okay, so these are our outcomes, so we're gonna put those to the side for a second. Now, let's talk about the three habit hacks. Okay, so I'm going to give them to you, and then I'm going to explain what they are. So make it easy, make it predictable, make it impossible to not do. Let's do that again. Make it easy, make it predictable and make it impossible for you not to do it. Okay, like you like there's no like. You have to do it like you. There's no way that you can't do it. So let's explain this. And everyone is different. That's the fun part about this. But the more you learn about yourself and you're honest with yourself and your natural tendencies habits, actually become a lot easier. So for example, you may be making it harder by saying I need to wake up at 5am and if you're truly not a morning person, or you have kids and you wake up in the middle of the night with them, that's like the season of life that I'm in. It's so hard to wake up at 5am consistently every single day. Could I do it if my life depended on it for sure? But we are striving to create ease, flow and fun, and approach this in more of a holistic, feminine way that you're not like tooth and nail, hustle, grind, do it like your life depends on it like that's not what we're about here. I've tried that route, and my whole body constantly felt stress and chaos and overwhelm and anxiousness. So that is not how I practice, and that's not what I preach. And I want to prove to people and myself that there's another way, that there's another way. So there's nothing wrong with waking up early, but naturally, if that is not easy for you, for your because of your body, because of your brain, because of your your children, or anything else, I wouldn't recommend that you do it. So we want to make every single habit super easy for you to succeed. We want to make every habit super predictable, which we'll talk about that here in a second. And we want to make it so impossible that it's like, it's like a no brainer for you to do it. It's like a no brainer. So these all do connect together to create, like, massive success for you. So I want you to look at your outcomes, and I want you to think about what is the one habit. That you feel like could help all of these happen. And so what I mean by that? Let me look at my list. So like, date nights is easy. That's like getting it on the schedule. Ask. That's being intentional, right? So some of these will be easy. So like, you can even start with that. Like, okay, let me get some date nights on the calendar. Let me like, right now I'm scheduling a tattoo party. Let me get that. So for me, I'm going to use the example of savings. So we have a personal savings goal, and I have a business savings goal. What has been phenomenal for me, for savings is making it so easy, so easy to save. So every single Friday, I have an automatic transfer that goes into my savings account. I know it, it happens automatically, and I don't have to do anything. That's a habit that is literally making it predictable, that's making it easy, and it's making it impossible for me not to do it right, like it's so exciting, because it happens whether I show up or not. Okay, we typically have all, like, at least one to two pieces of content scheduled every single day to drive engagement, drive conversions, drive education on our social media channels. And that happens predictably, easily, every single day. And it happens because we're ahead, we're intentional. So it's impossible not to it's impossible to fail because it's already it's set up in the future, right? Like it's set up for the future. So that's what I'm talking about here. For you to feel like you have to perform every single day and do 20 habits every single day is setting you up for failure, I believe, especially as a mom, every day looks different for me. I have different levels of energy. My kids are in different moods. There's different demands, based on clients, based on team, based on the world. If it's raining, I'm just not motivated to do much. I just want to sit on my couch and watch Netflix and hang out. And so what? The more we can automate your habits. Automate your habits, then the very few habits that you can't automate will feel so much easier because you've automated so many things. So savings like, Yes, I can manually move additional savings in. I also do cash. So I have a a binder for savings. That's an additional thing, but I have, I have multiple savings automatically going. I have some on the on Monday, and I have some some on Friday, and I'm actually just in my journal tonight was like, oh, let's do a Wednesday too. Like, I want this happening all the time. To me, it is, like the funnest thing, knowing whether I show up or not. Things are happening. Like, content is happening. Savings goals are happening. Like, pretty much all of our bills are on automatic. Like, I'm obsessed with automation in the most unusual ways, because my brain loves it, like it creates all of this dopamine for me. Okay. Um, so for the ones that we can't really like cleaning your house, yes, you could hire somebody. I've been there, I've done that, but I actually prefer to clean my own house. We can talk about that another day, but like cleaning your house, unless you pay somebody to do it. So cleaning your house and like working out, those aren't as easy to automate. Okay? So like working out, for example, we necessarily can't automate it, but we can make it easier. So let's break this one down, since it's not as automated. So how we can make it easier? One, you could work out the same about the same time every single day, so either, like, if your kids typically always nap from like, noon to two, that could be like, Mommy workout time, and you could, like, work out, read journal, like it's almost like your self care time. You could do after the kids go to bed. You could wake up early if you love to go the gym. You could hire a personal trainer. But we want to look at again, how can we make this easy? So what I have found to work best for me. This may change in the next season of life that I'm in, but when the kids go to bed, I love to, like Unwind by working out. It actually, like wears my body down, and I've noticed that I have slept better. Ideally, I do love a good morning workout, but it just has not felt. Easy in this season of life, and after trying to wake up early so many times and failing, I've just decided to, like, wave my white flag and be like, Okay, that's just not that's not going to happen right now, and that's okay. I really would love to get to, like, a workout earlier in the day. So maybe in the next season of life where the kids are home more, that may be totally possible. But for now, I'm in a really good habit of, after the kids go to bed, I work out, and that has been amazing. Okay, you could also lay out your workout clothes. You could wear your workout clothes to bed. A lot of times I'll wear my workout clothes throughout the whole day and have my tennis shoes on. So that way, by the time I put Boone to bed, it's like, okay. Like, as soon as he's like, fully asleep, it's like, Okay, now it's time to work out. So that's huge. Also doing the same tasks on the same day is huge. So, like, maybe every Monday is like marketing Monday. So that makes it easy, it makes it predictable. And how we would make it impossible for you not to do is either accountability or you could, let's see. Let's think. What else you could have accountability. You could literally put alarms on your phone. You could have a reward at the end, the beginning and the end. You like, we could think of things to do. You could schedule, like, like a rental place where you would go that would almost make it impossible for you not to do because you're like, Okay, well, I scheduled this place. Even the library lets you schedule two hour sessions for free. So you could schedule that like. So we're thinking of like ways that you will like you make it literally like, almost impossible for you not to do it. And that's key, because a lot of people hire personal trainers because of that reason, they're like, Yes, I could go to the gym on my own, but it's just so easy not to go. So they pay the extra money to make it impossible for them not to do it. So that's what we're looking for here. So let me look at my list of what else I can do. Okay, so let's think about the 1000 students, because I can't control when people say yes, right or no, but there is a lot in my control of reaching that 1000 student goal. So I am in marketing. I know it takes a lot of people like exposure to a lot of people to reach that level of a result. So how could I make it easy? Okay, this is kind of selfish, because now I want to, kind of like, think through this with you. So how can I make it easy? One, I can put ads together, and I can test those ads, tweak those ads until we get, like, a well oiled, predictable machine of like, wow, this ad is generating leads. Those leads get you know, on our email list, and then from our email list, those people convert and become a student. Like, I could really, like, within six months, I could see the results of that, and that would be easier, because then I'm not having to message a bunch of people, right, or have sales calls with a bunch of people, or my team having sales calls, even if it's not me, it could be somebody else. So that could definitely make it easier. We have hungry, motivated women that are like, I want to help you grow the movement. I am feeling this huge tug on my heart to help them, empower them, to to reach more women, and so helping them understand like, Hey, do this, this and this, instead of it be being all on my shoulders. One, when they enroll people, they get reoccurring revenue, which makes my heart so happy. And so I could spend more money with them versus ads. So I could do ads and affiliates, okay? And then there is a program that I am joining, that is a networking program that has exposure to almost 1 million women, so they most likely are not all moms. There's another network that is all moms that I'm considering joining too. So like for me, it's traffic, it's exposure, right? I could also put together some press pitches where I could get in front of different types of news channels. So right now, how I'm going to make this easier is way more exposure, like almost kind of think about like a sunburn. I need so much exposure without sunscreen. In this example, that like we get with like we get burnt in the best way possible. So we need more exposure so we can reach more women. So that way that 1000 student goal is truly realistic. It's it's very predictable, and how we make it literally impossible not to hit is to continue to break it down into small like, one person at a time, break it down per month, break it down per week, and really, just like, keep the eye on the prize, keep us really, like, mission focused. So although I have a really big goal, I want to make sure that our student experience is dialed in, our sales copy is dialed in. Everything legal is dialed in, you know, we're sending out Happy Mail. We're like, we're giving, we're doing our part in the online space and in the community. And equally, like doing like, the marketing, like it's all connected. And I know, like me feeling excited and like, we're ready for 1000 people is a part of the puzzle. It's a huge part of the puzzle, because I want us to be able to hold that many people successfully. Like, if they all private DMed me today, like, Could I respond back to all of them, for sure, but it would take me and or, you know, the small team that I have a lot of time. So it's like, the automations are key, the legal and protection is key, the onboarding process, right? Like, you know, all of those pieces and parts are so important, just as much as the traffic and exposure is. And so I'm really taking a lot of the a lot of my time working on the business around that related so, yeah, how we make it impossible is keeping it like the top focus and breaking it down and like me asking for help. That's key. Me asking for help me not overloading my to do list with anything that's not related to that, keeping my schedule open, me taking care of myself so I have the energy. So it's like I'm feeling so good. I feel like we're on a really good path, and I'm just working on regulating, continuing to regulate myself through that. But really like the interesting part that I'll end with, since I've been on this journey of obsessing about habits and human behavior, is I have felt a level of calmness, a level of success, a lot, a predictable success. I might add that I've never really felt before, like I've hit some big, big, big goals over my career, but it never felt like truly predictable. It felt like down to the like last minute, and it was like a kind of like a nail clincher. And this year feels like so calm, because it's like I can see us approaching the target, if you will. I can see us hitting the goal like it's happening in real time in so many different ways. Like I've been training for my marathon. I've been educating myself on the marathon. I am more active, like I was just reading about creatine yesterday. Like, who am I? I made I got us a bunch of supplies for smoothies, like, I drink happy juice, like I'm in I'm going to be investing in new tennis shoes so I don't feel nervous about the full marathon. Like, well, I feel a little nervous the day of for sure, because it's like day of jitters, but I won't doubt that I'll cross that finish line like I've never doubted that, which feels like it's such a good vibe that I think we can learn so much from the 1000 student goal. I won't lie, like it still does feel like not that it's if it's gonna happen. I believe that we can do it, because how you enroll 10 students is really how you enroll 100 to be honest. Like, the thing doesn't really change. We just need more exposure. And so I know we can hit the 1000, but it's really for me. Like, I don't doubt that. I doubt. Like, okay, how can we do it in six months? Like, how can we do it by the end of the year and also not do it with hustle and grinding? So like, if we get to 500 by the end of the year, I will still be genuinely so giddy, so excited, and then it's just a matter of time until we get to the 1000. So like, I know the 1000 is a stretch, and I'm not willing to compromise my self care, the team, the student experience. So like, that is a stretch goal, and I don't doubt that we can hit the finish line. For me, I want to get to a place where it's. Like, I see it happening, and it feels easy, it feels predictable, and it feels impossible that we're not like we're it's impossible that we don't not hit it like, I hope I'm saying that correctly. You know what? I'm trying to say, um, like, it's we're totally gonna hit, hit it by the end of the year. I want to feel that with my values and alignment. So I'm excited. I'm open to that. I just I'm not there yet, because it doesn't feel predictable yet. It doesn't fully feel easy yet. And so I'm sharing that for transparency, because, like, we're almost 50% to 100 members, and like, the thing for me is we're still working out the kinks, which is so normal. And I know that, like, we're working out the kinks, we're, you know, updating messaging, we're, you know, just tweaking things. We're modifying things. You know, some members stay and some members go. I also know that that's normal. So I really want it to feel easy and I want it to feel predictable, then it will feel impossible, that like, of course we're gonna hit it. Like, of course we're gonna hit it. There's no question that we won't hit it like, I want that to feel like the marathon, in a way, it's also a marathon. I'm running a marathon in my business, just as much as I'm running a marathon in real life, in October. The the marathon in October is like mid October. So it's not that far away when you really do the math, and like we all know that summer goes so fast, but I'm not questioning at all the marathon. That's how I want to feel with the big business goal. And I don't feel, I don't feel like I'm there yet, which means there's some confidence that gets to happen. There's some mindset that gets to happen, and there's some like back end stuff that gets to happen, which, truly, the back end will lead to the confidence, which, like, it's all connected. So that, to me, there's a few, like, there's a few gaps there that I get to close as a CEO, so I feel the same exact way that I do about training for the full marathon. And I'm not perfect with training for the full marathon, like I am not eating, like the most rigid meal plan. I am not, you know, killing myself to, like, work out like I am, but I'm making progress, and it feels predictable and it feels easy and like, of course, I'm going to run the full marathon. Like, there's not a day that goes by that. I'm like, that. I don't think about it. I'm like, of course, yep, it's on my calendar. I'm training for it. It's happening. No problem, no problem. And I love having a goal like that. So for the 1000 students, there's some gaps that need to close, but again, when you take ownership, you feel empowered. So like none of this feels shamey or bad, it actually feels exciting to me, because with these three habit hacks, close the gaps, guess what? Then it feels easy, predictable and impossible for you not to hit it. So that's where the opportunity comes into play, because, if you're not feeling that way about your home or your health and fitness or your finances or marketing, work on those three, how can you make it easier? How can you make it predictable? And how can you make it impossible that like, of course you hit it like, of course, you hit it. And when you have that much like you're that sure that like that alone becomes a magnet for everything that you desire, like the savings goal, it feels the same way. It's so easy, it's so predictable. Of course, I'm gonna hit my goal like I was even reworking it last note tonight, because I'm upping my goal. So I'm like, Okay, I need to up the transfer. That happens. I'll just go into my bank account tomorrow and I'll update the transfer. It'll take two seconds, and then it ha it continues to happen automatically. How exciting is that? So with that being said, I just really urge you to think about these things. These are CEO level thought processes that get to happen so you can live the happiest, healthiest and wealthiest life. We've got to slow down. To speed up, this makes you way less reactive and so much more proactive and intentional, and that's how you create wealth. Truly is being so intentional, so proactive, that it literally makes it impossible for you not to be wealthy like of course you're going. Be Wealthy, of course, because you're putting in the work day to day, and you don't have to do this with burning yourself out. The more we can automate as many habits as possible. Then use these, these three hacks, especially for things that are more manual. It'll just make it so chill, like, so chill that you're like, oh my gosh, like, this is happening in real time. And how freaking exciting is that? So message me what your number one habit is that you're focusing on right now. So for me, I definitely am going to first focus on the back end, which is what my focus is this week, because I can't run ads if the back end is not where I need it to be. So I'm up leveling the back end, and then I can get to ADS, then I can get to affiliates, and then what else can I get to ADS, affiliates, those are the big ones. Then we'll see where we're at, and we'll reassess. But with ads and affiliates and everything on our end, like up leveling our content, it should make it literally impossible for it not to happen. So that gives me a lot of focus that I can work on, on really moving the needle forward. I heard something from a mentor a long time ago, like just on the internet. She's not like a mentor of mine, but she posted a reel, and I love what she said. She She decides at the beginning of the week, one big needle mover every single week, that's she picks one because there's always going to be like the odds and ends, right? You're, you're responding to DMS, you're posting stories, you're, you're sending emails. Like a lot of those things are very, very important, but they're more reactive tasks. So when you as a CEO, can decide what is the big needle mover this week, and you block off chunks of time for that, and you even enroll your team to support you, if you've got a team. And then at the end of the week, that's how you measure success of like, okay, did we move that needle? Move did we move the needle mover forward doesn't necessarily mean that you have to have it all done. Because typically needle movers are like, big beast, right? If you're working on building out a product, if you are working on your marketing, like, a lot of needle movers are never really done. But when you can identify within the needle mover, like, what are the things that you want to do? This can be really helpful. So for me, it's automation this week. So there's endless automation that I can do, but every single day I'm focusing on like, okay, which automation can I focus on today? Because that frees up my brain next week to be able to move on to other things. So it's the back end, it's the onboarding, it's the sales automations. There's so much, so I'm just like immersing myself in it, in small pockets of time, and just within one day of that, because the holiday was yesterday, but one day of that, it's been huge, like, it's been so huge. So that's my focus all week, on top of, obviously, everything else that I'm doing, but, like, that's the big needle mover. So I hope that's helpful for you, and I can't wait to hear what your needle mover is and what, like, big outcome that you're focusing on, and what habit is going to help you get there.
